Pregnant During a Pandemic | Through The Window Session
It seemed like life changed overnight.
One minute life was normal, and the next schools were closing, businesses shuttered, and everyone was urged to stay at home.
Not one person has unaffected. Including us pregnant people.
Birth plans have been vastly affected. Support people are being restricted. This is not how we imagined our births.
As a fellow pregnant mama, my heart goes out to all of you affected by this. We didn’t ask for this, and we are trying so hard to navigate this “new normal” without breaking.
As a photographer, my heart goes out to all the families that cannot celebrate this pregnancy or newborn phase with professional portraits. It seems like just one more thing we miss out on. It’s not like a wedding, or family portraits where we are able to just switch to a new date.
This is what led to my idea for “Through the Window” sessions (and other ideas).
Through the window sessions are exactly what they sound like; no contact, you are inside your home, and I am in your front or backyard capturing your moments through the window. If you have large windows, french doors, or a glass front door, we are able to have this session.
The images we create together are artistic, unique, and beautiful in their own nature.
I’ll guide you through posing through speakerphone on both our phones, and a few days later we’ll be able to have your session reveal virtually, through zoom meeting and screen sharing.
If you are due very soon, or are distraught about losing the opportunity for newborn portraits, please reach out to me. If I can give you this little piece of light, hope, and happiness during this tough time (in a safe manner), I am happy to do so.
I will also be adding a new community on my facebook group offering advice and tips for taking pictures yourselves (and things I do for successful and emotional portraiture) and offering my editing assistance. This will be a limited time community devoted to helping pregnant families during this tough time.
