My Life, My Loves

Slowing down. Savoring moments.

We are week who-knows-what of social distancing during this pandemic. Schools closed, playgrounds roped off, and life is spent mainly at home.

I am 33 weeks pregnant, and while this wasn’t how I hoped to spend my spring, I am selfishly enjoying moments of this slowing down. Savoring these last few weeks as a family of three. Basking in the simplicity of moments that would have been overlooked, and finding ways to connect with my son when our usual activities are non existent at the moment. Thankful to have my husband working from home.

I was outside planting our summer veggies, the warm evening sunlight cascading over us. My son was outside in the driveway with the automatic bubble maker, chasing the bubbles happily in his rainboots. I glanced over my shoulder, my hands caked with dirt, and noticed the way the setting sun glittered through the backyard bushes, illuminating the flood of bubbles produced by the bubble machine.

I stopped gardening, grabbed my phone, and began capturing these moment. The lighting was so perfect, I asked my husband to take a few pictures of me (33 weeks pregnant), as well as me and my son.

During this pandemic there are bad days and good days (becoming more and more good days, thankfully), and this was definitely one of those good days <3
